A sun direction sensor for solar concn. systems consists of a rectangular tube with a transvesely mounted cylindrical lens. The lens is mounted at a distance from its focal point perpendicularly to the tube above a plate carrying a photocell. The lens forms an image of the incident sunlight as a line on the plate which illuminates the suitably arranged photocell whose output signal is used to determine the direction of incidence of the sunlight. USE/ADVANTAGE - Accurately determining angle of incidence and hence position of radiation source to enable concn. of sunlight.
