<p>An electrically operated lock (1) for a motor vehicle door, comprising a latch (9) designed to engage, when closed, a striker (26) fitted to a fixed portion of the vehicle; a retainer (11) designed to cooperate with and maintain the latch (9) in the closed position by virtue of elastic means (34); mechanical means (39, 57) for activating the retainer (11); and control means (86, 18) activated by an electric actuator (84), secured to the retainer (11), and designed to provide for reversible displacement of the retainer (11) for further rotating the latch (9) from the closed position to a further closed position wherein the load on the door seals is increased.</p> |
