摘要 PURPOSE:To facilitate the compact housing of long rare earth-doped fibers without giving losses by housing a repeater internal unit into a cylindrical case and winding the rare earth-doped fibers on the outer periphery of the cylindrical case, thereby housing the fibers. CONSTITUTION:The Er fibers 24 connected to the optical circuit in the repeater internal unit are extended in the axial direction of the repeater and are drawn out of the end to the outside of the cylindrical case 23. After the fibers are wound and housed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical case 23, the fibers are again drawing into the cylindrical case 23 and are connected to internal circuits. An insulating cylinder 26 made of polyethylene is put on the Er doped fibers 24 wound on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical case 23 from above these fibers to provide the insulation between the repeater internal unit 10 and the outside; thereafter, this repeater internal unit 10 is housed via a cushion structure into a pressure resistant housing. The relatively long rare earth-doped fibers 24 are compactly housed without giving the loses occurring in bending in this way.
