Image data transmission and reception modules (1,2), two transceiver modules (3,4) and a microprocessor (5) are served by a microprocessor bus (6) and an image data bus (7) having several identical parallel channels (7.1 - 7.k). The image modules themselves autonomously monitor and control the asynchronous image transmission from start to finish, including any necessary interrupts in data transmission without need for additional intermediate storage. The special image data bus (7) allows monitoring to be independent of the microprocessor (5). ADVANTAGE - Initialisation hardware and software costs are minimised, and additional buffer memories and computer routines for different processing speeds are avoided.
