A safety device for the binding needle in a bale press. A catch (11) is activated by a rocker (3) attached to a connecting rod (6) to swing in the path (22) of the piston crank (18), which, in case of interruption to the binding elements, the path being blocked by the roller (16) on the crank pin (17), moves into its original position. USE/ADVANTAGE- The device functions in any position of the needle.
