A plaster model of a patient's teeth is held in a socket (1) with a flat bottom (2) and a wall, which conforms to the shape of the jaw extending around two opposite sides and one end of the socket. The plaster model can be sawn into sections, with each section held separately in the socket. The complete model, or its part, is held in place by two rows (8,9) of pins (10) which are arranged to follow the curve of the jaw. The pins are spaced from each other and taper from the base upwards.
