Disclosed is a clip applicator (1) for placing and closing blood-vessel clips, etc. The applicator has two jaws (9, 10) which can be moved relative to each other about an axis of rotation (4), thus varying the angle between the jaws. Each jaw has an inwards-facing recess, the two recesses being designed to hold an open blood-vessel clip. Each of the applicator jaws (9, 10) is detachably connected to jaw mountings (7, 8) located behind the jaws and including the axis of rotation (4).
