A right-left-handed stop device for a pistol magazine, in which a hand-suitable cross-lever arm 19 is held by a spring device 31 against a frame part 41 of the pistol handle, the ends 23, 24 of which lever arm project on each side from the handle. The lever arm has a stop projection 27 which enters the magazine 18 to hold it in place. When hand pressure is applied to either end 23, 24 of lever arm 19, the lever arm is turned against the force of the spring device 31 and pulls out the stop projection 27 from magazine 18 to disengage same.
