The snow and icing detector detects the snow or the icing state of road, bridges, or parking lots and melts the snow and ice using heating cable or heaters. The detector includes a transformer (TR1) for stepping down 220V to 12V, a regulating IC for supplying 5V to a controller, a thermister for detecting temperture, a bridge circuit (BG) for converting the temperature to voltage level, a variable resister (R2) for adjusting the temperature scale, a variable resistor (R4) for setting zero point of the bridge circuit, a differential amplifier (OP1,OP2) for amplifying voltage level of the bridge circuit, an amplifier (OP3) for amplifying the output of the differential amplifier and a magnetic switch (M1) for controlling heaters to melt snow or ice.
