The present invention provides a vehicle chassis which comprises a front portion which is adapted to support the engine and front wheels and a rear U-shaped portion which is adapted to support a load bearing floor between the arms of the U. A torque box is connected across the junction of the rear portion and the front portion with a roll bar connected across the torque box and two support bars and connected from the roll bar to the respective arms of the rear U-shaped portion to provide stability for the vehicle chassi . The rear walls are supported on two respective trailing arm assemblies to support each wheel independently of the other.
