A device for the drawing and holding of a pick inserted into the weaving shed through a pick insertion duct of a profiled reed comprises a yarn drawing device which is located on an auxiliary reed connected to the profiled reed on the yarn arrival side. The drawing device is equipped with a pick drawing duct converging with the pick insertion duct. Air exit bores end in the drawing duct in such a way that a main air jet made up of several subjets deflect the head end of the pick in the direction of the duct base in the auxiliary reed. ADVANTAGE - The pick is drawn and held drawn securely and the amt. of pick waste is minimised.
