The invention concerns a furnishing system, in particular a table system, with a table top (1) and two support elements (24) located at the ends of the table top (1), the table top (1) and/or the support elements (24) having attachment fittings (7 and 22) for fixing the table top (1) to the support elements (24). A wide variety of combinations for assembling the table top (1) with the support elements (24), and hence considerable system flexibility, is made possible by the fact that the table top (1) is held by means of the attachment fittings (7 and 22) between the support elements (24) in self-supporting fashion. Table tops (1) and support elements (24) designed in this way enable a wide variety of office furnishings to be constructed.
