The circuit is for generating composite sync. with odd field when external sync. exists and the regular composite sync. with both odd and even fields when external sync. doesn't exist, to stabilize the display of characters in on-screen display system. It includes an internal/horizontal sync generator (10) for generating the internal horizontal sync. signal (H2) and another horizontal sync. signal (H2/2) with half-period of the horizontal sync. signal (H2), an internal/vertical sync. generator (20), an one field vertical sync. generator (40), and a selecting section (60) for selecting a sync. among the syncs. of two types.
