A process for performing an operation involving at least one component of a fluid stream to provide product containing the at least one component or a chemical derivative thereof, the fluid stream containing at least one other component which is deleterious in at least one step of the operation, which comprises: (a) contacting the fluid stream with adsorbent selective for the adsorption of the at least one other component as compared to the at least one component under adsorption conditions to provide an adsorption stage effluent having a reduced concentration of the at least one other component; (b) using the adsorption stage effluent in the at least one step of the operation to provide a product effluent stream; and (c) contacting at least a portion of the product effluent stream with adsorbent having the at least one other component adsorbed thereon under desorption conditions to regenerate the adsorbent and provide a desorption stage effluent containing an increased concentration of the at least one other component. f |
