A rocking swash plate type variable capacity compressor comprises a housing (10) and a cylinder block (12) provided in the housing, and cylinder bores (14) radially and equidistantly arranged about the center axis of the housing are formed. In each of the cylinder bores, a piston (11) is reciprocatingly movably housed, and a driving shaft (20) is provided in a crank case (18) along the center axis thereof. Swash plates (40, 44) rocking about an axis perpendicularly intersecting a longitudinal axis of the driving shaft are provided to the shaft, and shoes (42) are interposed between the swash plates and the piston to change the rotary motions of the swash plates into the reciprocating motion of the piston. A rotary driving member (50) is solidly secured onto the driving shaft, a bearing element (52b) is provided on the rotary driving member to transmit the rotary motion of the member to the swash plates, and a connecting pin element (52c) projecting from a swash plate is slidably inserted through the bearing element. The shoes and the bearing elements are substantially positioned on the center axis (CL) of the piston, and this positional relationship is constantly maintained even if the inclined positions of the swash plates are changed so as to change the compressing capacity of the piston. |
