PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet binding device which can suppress reduction in sheet alignment quality due to the state where a binding margin portion supplied with water becomes a resistance when sheets which become a sheet bundle to be overlapped and bound are aligned.SOLUTION: A sheet binding device comprises: a sheet accumulation tray 23 on which conveyed sheets 5 are loaded; a first movable reference fence aligning the sheet ends in the sheet conveyance direction of the sheets 5; and a hitting roller. The sheet binding apparatus also comprises: a water addition part W1 which adds a moisture content to a binding margin where the sheet ends in the sheet width direction of the sheets 5 whose sheet ends in the sheet width direction are aligned protrude; and a first jogger fence 24 which aligns the rear side in the sheet width direction of the sheets 5 added with the moisture content by the water addition part W1. The sheet binding apparatus also comprises an end binding part which performs crimp-binding to the binding margins of the plurality of sheets 5 aligned by the first jogger fence 24.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
