PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive, safety air cleaner used in an air conditioner without deterioration in sterilizing and deodorizing abilities. CONSTITUTION:A room side heat exchanger 6 of an air conditioner and a fan 9 which supplies air to the heat exchanger 6 are installed inside an air duct 20 through which conditioned air is sent to a room. An air cleaner 10 is composed of an ultraviolet lamp 7 and a light-excitable catalyst 8. The ultraviolet lamp 7 having a sterilizing power is situated on the downstream side of the heat exchanger 6 with regard to the air flow direction, and the light- excitable catalyst 8 is located downstream the ultraviolet lamp 7 and produces a substance, that oxidizes and decomposes odor components, when irradiated with ultraviolet waves. |
