The folding roof cover bow arrester comprises a toggle linkage hinged via one rod to a swivel arm and hinged via the other rod to fixed part so the linkage extends from folded rest setting into extended supporting setting. In the support setting, the linkage (15) stands outside the swivel path of the roof cover bow (12). It is hinged to the short (extender) arm (20) of the bow so that most of the linkage movement in the arrest mode lies outside the swivel path of the cover bow (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - Motor vehicles, convertibles. Toggle action linkage moves clear of roof cover bow movement and can thus fit into sides for greater safety in accidents.
