A wood unit is produced by cutting at least two substantially corresponding slabs, so that from each of them two wood pieces being substantially the mirror image of each other are obtained. Gluing surfaces have been formed on these wood pieces by cutting material away and they have after that been glued to each other with the right angled corners thereof forming the outer corners of a wood unit with a substantially constant rectangular outer cross section shape and a longitudinal inner hollow space.
