PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image density reduction on a recording material tip side even in a case where a transfer bias is high Duty.SOLUTION: A transfer bias supplied for transferring a toner image to a recording material P in a transfer part N where a belt-like image carrier 31 carrying the toner image and a transfer member 404 are brought into contact with each other is a superposition bias in which an AC component in which a bias in the transfer direction of transferring the toner image from the image carrier side to the recording material side and a bias in the reverse direction to the transfer direction are alternately switched to fluctuate periodically and a DC component are superposed, and the time applying the bias in the reverse direction occupying one period of the AC component is larger than 50%. The ratio of the DC component of the superposition bias supplied within a prescribed length range with respect to the DC component of the superposition bias supplied outside the prescribed length range from the tip of the recording material is larger than the ratio of the AC component of the superposition bias supplied within the prescribed length range with respect to the AC component of the superposition bias supplied outside the prescribed length range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
