The method for reducing the recognition time of korean alphabet and improving the recognition efficiency uses the run length code. The starting point and ending point of all segments presented at horizontal line is detected in scanning process of korean alphabet image, followed by investigating the relation of the path generated at present and the detected segments. If one segment is connected to two path, 1x5 window starting at (ax+1,by+1) coordinates by making the last segment right ending coordinates (ax,by) of first path as standard is set. If the pixel value in window is lower than that of critical value, the pixel value is set as noise.
