A mains switch at the rear of a machine is operated from the front by an actuator, there being a mechanical connection between them. The connection comprises a plastic tube with an internal plastic switching rope. The tube is formed by heating into a shape to suit the arrangement, typically bending in two or three dimensions round components of the machine. The actuator and/or switch can have a pot-shaped extension acommodating a switch tappet to be connected to the rope, and to which a boom, slotted in the lengthwise direction to secure the tube end is connected. The rope and tube can be of polyamide or polycarbonate. ADVANTAGE - Simple to instal, and reliable and easy remote operation.
