The basic spacer block component (1) consists of a four-legged support which is arched across its faces and diagonally, to form a small transept or crossing vault. Large numbers of these basic components may be arranged in abutting rows on a sub-floor. The assembly of vaults is then covered with dry fill material to make a level surface. The dry fill is then covered and finally layered with panel board or similar material to form the final floor finish. Underfloor ducting and wiring can run in any direction.
