A method of connecting elongated radially sawn segments of timber by machining notches in a segment of timber so that the notch is similar in shape to and will accept the apex of the two radial faces or so that the notch is similar in shape to and will accept the part of the flared radial faces which are adjacent to the tangential face. Said notches and joins can be used in a variety of ways principle among these are simple methods for making interconnected box like structures combining the notches of the method with the grooves of drop segments of timber. Half notch drop segments can build up log cabin type structures. Notches for the flared tangential face have a natural dovetail and are self-locking. Notches can also be made in the apex of the wedges and have the apex of another wedge inserted into it so that the tangential faces of the segments are furthest apart. Multiples of these can be used in a grid as a structural platform or the like. |
