The method prevents black spots on a recording sheet of a facsimile caused by higher surrounding density than white reference level of a manuscript. The method comprises the steps of: (A) reading reference white level of a manuscript and storing the level on a memory (7); (B) storing start address (P1(t)) and end address P2(t) of each line of a manuscript when the reference white level is lower than white level of manuscript; (C) processing pixel of 1-P1(t) as white; (D) processing pixels of P1(t)-P2(t) according to white level of a manuscript; (E) compressing data of processed line, transmitting the compressed line data and increasing line number by one; and (F) repeating the step (B)-(E) for next line.
