A method of and a device for temporarily inserting an apparatus into a buried pipeline, the device comprising a quill to be inserted into a borehole and comprising a lock at its top part, expansible chambers associated with the inner wall of the quill and a head mounted at the bottom part of the quill to provide a sealed connection between the latter and a pipeline buried in the ground and in which an apparatus should be temporarily inserted via the quill.
