Supplementary device for a gas shielded welding device, such as a TIG welding device intended for plasma arc welding. The power source of the TIG welding device 30 and any other components can be used in connection with a plasma arc welding torch, using the supplementary device. The supplementary device 20 is a an adapter unit 20, known in the art, which can be coupled between a plasma arc torch 1-8 and a TIG welding device 30, which unit comprises an electrical intermediate coupling. By way of this intermediate coupling the HF ignition unit 33 of the TG welding device 30 and the welding power source 31 can be connected to the electrical poles A, B, C of the plasma torch 1-8. The supplementary device 20 is provided with a pilot power source 10A, which is suitable for plasma arc welding, which source can be coupled between the middle electrode 1 of the plasma arc torch 1-8 and the nozzle 5. <IMAGE>
