摘要 The encoder includes a transformation assembly (2) with several types of transformation units (TF1...n) for converting a signal (1) into transmission data by receiving the signal via separate paths. An energy detector (3) transmits a selection signal (a, a') for such transformation with the highest energy content after the energy detector has determined the energy from the respective transformation units. A multiplexer (4) transmits the signal with the highest energy from the respective transformation units under the control of the selection signal (a) from the energy detector. The latter detects the energy from the coefft. of an energy detecting range, corresp. to the transform range data of low frequency. USE - For improving transmission efficiency of video signal, e.g. using discrete cosine or Kahrunen-Loeve transformations.
