The invention relates to a joint for coupling tubes wherein two tube sections provided with external splines at the end thereof are joined by a female sleeve provided with internal splines. The internal splines (15) of the sleeve (3) are engageable between the external splines (9, 10) of ends (4, 5) of the tube sections (1, 2); a hardenable material is injected into the space at the splines (9, 10, 15) between the internal surface of the sleeve (3) and the external surfaces of the pipe sections (1, 2). The surface area of the sides of the splines (15) of the sleeve (3) which are located to the sides of the splines (9, 10) of pipe sections (1, 2) is sufficient for the forces which can be transmitted at the coupling joint by the splines (9, 10, 15) and the hardenable substance to be at least equal to the forces transmissible by the running lengths of the pipe sections (1, 2).
