The invention concerns a track 4 for the transportation of flat articles 3, which track comprises a turning device 6 for turning the articles continually and smoothly, so that at the location of the turning device and on at least one section of the track they are continually in different planes as they move along the track. In order that the flat article 3 is able to be turned quickly and in order for the turning device to be simple, the turning device comprises a pivoting base 27 - 29 with little friction for guiding the articles with a sliding movement, drawn essentially in a straight line by a belt 30, where the articles are positioned between the pivoting base and the belt, which pivoting base is in the form of a spiral in the direction of transportation. The pivoting base also comprises means 27, 28 which prevent the articles 3 which are being transported from coming off the pivoting base during the turning process. The invention also concerns a device for sorting coins, which device comprises a track of the abovementioned type. <IMAGE>
