The hydraulic shock absorber of a glass shaping machine mechanism consists of a body (1) in which there is a piston (2) with one-sided piston rod (3) running in a plugged conduit (5). In the opposite side of the body (1) there is a needle conduit (6) with needle (4) provided with a taper (11) located opposite the throttle hole (9) in the piston (2). The piston (2) is provided with at least one transfer hole (14) joining the interconnecting holes (15) in the body (1). Between the piston (2) and needle conduit (6) there is a spring (12) surrounding the needle (4) slide fitted in the needle conduit (6) by means of a threaded connection (7).<IMAGE>
