A biasing device biases a movable first structure (1) relative to a second structure (2). The device is used as a closing mechanism for sliding doors or windows. A motion reducing mechanism in the form of a pantograph (7) or half pantograph is connected between the first and second structures. A biasing means (16) connects the pantograph (7) to the second structure (2). The biasing means (16) can be a spring, pneumatic cylinder or length of resilient material. The amount of extension or compression of the biasing means (16) is less than the movement of the first structure (1) relative to the second structure (2). |
