The open loop-like sleeve (16) conforms with the open looped ring (4). The ends (17,18) interact to adapt to the pipes (1,2) being joined and to form an abutment plate (19) which allows sealing contact (20-23) between the ends (17,18) of the sleeve (16). The sleeve itself (16) can be formed from a strip coaxial with the ring (4). Its OD is smaller than that of the pipes being connected. One end (18) of the strip has a notch (24) and the other end (17) a foot (25) for engaging in the notch. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easier use and sealing together of two pipes without having to process the ends of the pipes.
