A warning alarm system comprising of a programmable computer 22, intruder detectors 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and deterrents or warnings activated by an intruder. Detectors such as pyro-electric infra-red devices, signal the computer which triggers warnings and deterrents. The property 1 is divided into a number of zones 6, 8, 10, 12, 14. Each zone categorised into highly critical, critical and non critical areas. Warnings and deterrents include generated sounds, which differ in each detection zone, sounding as a discrete on/off buzz/beep, or as psychological warning sounds which deter an intruder. The deterrents or warnings may be switched on or off and timed and controlled by the hardware and software which may be modified by use of a keypad. The programmable computer also has the capability of being upgraded and updated with revised software. <IMAGE>
