The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for preparing a product from synthesis gas optionally also containing inert components as well as the reactants, by heterogeneous gas catalysis with incomplete conversion, with the aid of a plurality of successive circulation systems, in each of which the following process steps are conducted, a) synthesis of product, b) removal of product, c) division of the residual gas into a discharge substream and a recycle substream, d) wherein the discharge substream is discharged from the circulation system, and e) the recycle substream is recycled to the synthesis of the same circulation system and/or to a synthesis of an upstream circulation system. The synthesis of product is effected at essentially the same pressure in all circulation systems. The circulation substream discharged from the first circulation system is fed to the downstream second circulation system, in such a way that at least a portion of the gas mixture that has flowed through the second circulation system has flowed through the first circulation system beforehand. |
