In order to provide an improved needle for needle-felting a fibrous web, the invention proposes that the circular-section working part (1) of the needle shaft is stepped at least once such that the shaft diameter is reduced towards the point (5). The steps (6 and 7) between the zones of different diameter (2, 3 and 3, 4) have an undercut (8), thus forming hook-like projections (9). Round the circumference of the needle shaft, between the hook-like projections (9), are recesses (10) which slope up from the smaller-diameter zone (3 or 4) to join the larger-diameter (2 or 3) to form a continuous transition, in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the needle shaft, between the zones of different diameter (2, 3 and 3, 4). |
