The vertical/horizontal correlation adaptive luminance/ chrominance separator includes a comb filter for 1H comb-filtering video signal of three serial horizontal scanning lines, respectively, a band-pass filter for band -pass filtering 1H- delayed video signal output from the comb filter, a correlation data detector for detecting first-fourth correlation data, a correlation coefficient generator for generating a correlation coefficient, a MUX for adaptively outputting chrominance signal according to the coefficient output from the coefficient generator, and a luminance signal portion for removing the chrominance signal from the signal delayed by a delay compensator, thereby preventing dot crawl or crossed color from occurring.
