PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely create a printing tape even when editing operation contents in a real-time preview mode become tape width shortage.SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises a cartridge holder 9 to/from which a cartridge 8 can be attached/detached. A CPU 212 determines a tape width condition of a cover film 103 to be printable on the basis of an editing operation and determines whether or not tape width information of the cover film 103 satisfies the determined tape width condition when the operation mode is in a real-time preview mode.
