PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly perform the management of remaining ink quantity in a printer to which ink can be replenished.SOLUTION: A printer system 100 is a multifunctional machine comprising a printer 110 as a liquid discharge apparatus and a scanner 120. The printer 110 has an ink tank 11 fixed therein, which is able to hold ink IK, and the user can replenish the ink tank 11 with the ink IK. The printer further has a pair of electrodes 15, 16 as a sensor arranged within the ink tank 11 for detecting whether the ink IK is present at a predetermined height (first threshold value). A control unit 40, which controls the printer 110, uses the sensor to perform liquid availability detection to check to see whether the ink IK is present at the predetermined height (first threshold value), and performs various control operations according to the detection result.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
