The system consists of a series of symbols based on dots or lines which are pre-printed on a sheet of paper and completed by written lines which connect them. The pre-printed symbols can be, for example, in the form of vertical lines in groups of three, joined by a horizontal line which can be in one of a number of positions to denote each letter.
