<p>Device for automatic correction of the orientation of motor vehicle headlamps, during variations in attitude thereof, comprising at least a first illumination sensor and a second illumination sensor (CP1, CP2, ... CPn), integrated with the headlamp and linked in movement with the latter, and detecting the luminance of the road illuminated by the headlamps in two directions targeting two regions of the road, one being closer and the other further away from the vehicle; an actuator (P1; P2) being capable of varying the inclination of the headlamps with respect to the vehicle, and processing means (CT) capable of constructing a control signal of the actuator (P1; P2) on the basis of the signals generated by the sensors (CP1, CP2, ... CPn). The invention is characterised in that the processing means (CT) comprise means (CTr) for delaying the action of the control signal on the actuator (P1, P2), which validate the control signal only after a predetermined time lag, and the correction device furthermore comprises at least one sensor (CPv) for detecting variation in the speed of the vehicle, which sensor is capable of short-circuiting the delay means (CTr) and validating the control signal as soon as it detects such a speed variation.
