The invention relates to an apparatus using the technique of plethysmography. Pneumatic cuffs make it possible, on the one hand, to compress the soft parts and, on the other hand, to act as sensors. The invention comprises three pneumatic cuffs (1) connected by hoses (2) to the plethysmograph proper. The latter comprises three solenoid valves (3) making it possible to connect each hose (2) to an electronic device (4) converting the pressure variations into electric current. An electrical compressor (5) connected to the electronic device (4) makes it possible to inflate the pneumatic cuffs (1) via hoses (2B). A differential amplifier (6) records the back-pressure applied and its variations. A microcomputer (8) allows analysis and recording of the arterial pulsation curve. <IMAGE>
