The scanner and controlling method thereof includes a memory for storing picture information, a central control means for controlling the output of the picture information stored in the memory, an oscillating means for providing a carrier frequency, a modulating means for modulating the picture information stored in the memory to the output frequency of the oscillating means, a supersonic wave generator for generating supersonic wave according to the modulated signal, an acoustic-optic device whose density is varied with the supersonic wave output from the supersonic wave generator, and a light emitting means for providing straight light to a photosensitive device via the acoustic-optic device, thereby obtaining high speed of printing.
