PRESSURE SENSITIVE COVER FOR FIRE RESISTANCE

A pressure-sensitive covering (10) having improved fire resistance. The covering (10), at a minimum, includes a cured layer of an intumescent material (14) having on an inner face a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive (16), with the pressure-sensitive adhesive (16) initially being covered by a standard release sheet (17). To improve the structural integrity of the cured layer (14) before and after intumescence, there may be provided a scrim (18) in the form of an open mesh within the cured layer (14). To further improve the structural integrity, a base member (20) may be applied between the cured layer (14) and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (16). An overlay (24) may also be provided in the form of a plastic or foil laminate which extends over the cured resin layer (14) and peripherally beyond the resin layer (14).
