<p>A reflective metallic foil is modified so that an incident laser beam is diffused into multiple beams to dissipate the energy of the incident beam. The surface can have protrusions (4) that range from 0.3 to 10,000 microns high (d) with an average diameter (Wp) of from 1 to 1,000 microns and an average spacing (Wn) between protrusions of from 0.2 to 5,000 microns. A first type pattern (3) consisting of protrusions (4) having an optimum range of 0.3 to 20 microns deep (d) and an average optimum diamater (Wp) of 2 to 41 microns with indentations (5) of average optimum spacing (Wn) of 1 to 100 microns and/or superimposed thereon a second type pattern (6) with protrusions (4) 20 to 100 microns deep (d) and a diameter (Wp) of 20 to 100 microns and spacing (Wn) of from 20 to 200 microns.</p> |
