A measuring device to ascertain the height of liquid in a container. The device comprises a tube (1) having a valve at the lower end of the tube (1) which when it contacts a surface will open to allow liquid surrounding the sight tube (1) to enter the sight tube (1). When the sight tube (1) is lifted to raise the lower end off the surface, the valve will close to enable the sight tube (1) to be removed from the container with the column of liquid in the sight tube (1) corresponding to the height of the liquid in the container. |
