The invention relates to a device for closing off a space by means of sliding doors travelling on a single top and bottom rail. It consists of two doors having a width (L), each door being characterized by a vertical panel (1) whose width is equal to half (L), which travels on a rail (2). Assembled horizontally at regular intervals (4) on this panel, and so that they project, are elements (3) of length (L). The elements (3) on each door face the gaps (4) between the elements of the other door. In the open position, the elements (3) are superposed, the panels (1) are joined together, and the assembly occupies a width (L), thereby freeing an access space of width (L). The device according to the invention is more specifically designed for closing off the facades of buildings. <IMAGE>
