The electrical operating characteristics of a microwave circuit are altered by forming a dielectric layer (30) on the circuit, with a pattern which alters the electrical characteristics of a part reacting to the presence of a covering layer (18) in such a way that the overall circuit has desired operating characteristics, within a range of tolerance. The adjustment of the operating characteristics may be carried out in an iterative way consisting in measuring the characteristics, in altering the distribution of the dielectric material and in remeasuring the characteristics, until satisfactory operating characteristics are obtained. The adjustment can also be carried out interactively, with continuous checking of operation of the circuit until the desired characteristics are obtained. <IMAGE> |
