A brake control system to provide RSP control on a trailer comprises a brake control unit having pneumatically and electrically first (15) and second (16) ABS relay valves, each relay valve being assigned to a single brake channel adapted to control the braking pressure on the trailer. This enables accurate control of the brakes during a roll stability event by the RSP module (12). The braking system is provided with a connection to a service yellow line (9) or emergency red line (10) from the prime mover of the truck. The yellow line (9) is connected to a brake valve (11) which provides an emergency braking function on the service brake line. A red line is connected to an optional park and shunt valve (13) which is in fluid communication with the rear wheels to provide manoeuvrability when the trailed is parked. Wheel speed sensors (7,8) which indicate wheel speed on either side of the trailer and a lateral acceleration sensor can determine whether a roll stability event is about to occur. Both the brake valve and park and shunt valve (13) are connected to a reservoir which is in fluid communication with the RSP module (12). A warning light (18) is controlled by the RSP module. |
