The present invention relates to an electrode assembly and a battery cell including the same, the electrode assembly comprising: a plurality of unit cells arranged in the height direction with respect to planes thereof, wherein at least two unit cells have different plane sizes; and a space part formed by differences in the sizes of the planes of the arranged unit cells, wherein each unit cell includes one or more electrode plates, the electrode tabs protruding from the electrode plates of the unit cells are electrically connected to the electrode lead by the tab-lead coupling part, and the tab-lead coupling part is located in the space part.
